The killing sand
A cinematic rock ballad that tells the heartbreaking story of a bull whose only crime was being born for someone else's entertainment
The Killing Sand is a cinematic rock ballad about the hidden cruelty of bullfighting, told through the eyes of a bull. Inspired by real events, the song explores fear, loss, and the devastating reality behind one of the world's most controversial traditions. Combining emotional storytelling with powerful cinematic rock, The Killing Sand raises awareness of animal suffering while giving a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves. It is a song for listeners who believe compassion should always be stronger than entertainment.
Inspiration
Some moments change the way you see the world.
For me, that moment came while watching a video shared by an animal welfare organisation. It showed an injured bull, desperately trying to crawl away. He wasn't fighting anymore. He wasn't charging. He was simply trying to reach a place where, perhaps, he hoped the fear would finally end.
I remember feeling sick. Then angry. But above all, I felt something I couldn't shake: his fear.
Long after the video had ended, that image remained with me. I kept wondering what his life had been before that moment. Had he once known peaceful mornings, open fields, and the warmth of the sun? Had he ever imagined that his final moments would unfold before a cheering crowd?
Those questions became the beginning of The Killing Sand.
This song was never meant to shock. It was written to create empathy. To imagine the story behind an animal we too often see only as part of a spectacle, and to remember that every life has value beyond the role we assign to it.
Through music, Project Mystika hopes to give a voice to those who cannot tell their own story.

The Story Behind
Every year, countless bulls are born into a world they never chose. They feel the warmth of the sun, run through open fields, form bonds, and fight for life just as every living being does.
Yet some are denied the chance to grow old.
Not because they are dangerous.
Not because they have done anything wrong.
But because their suffering has been turned into entertainment.
The Killing Sand was written to challenge that reality.
Rather than telling the story from the outside, I wanted listeners to experience it through the eyes of the one paying the ultimate price. His memories, his confusion, his desperate hope to escape, and the heartbreaking realization that there is nowhere left to run.
Music has the power to do something facts often cannot. It allows us to feel another life.
If this song makes someone pause before calling cruelty "tradition," or see a bull as an individual instead of part of a spectacle, then it has already accomplished more than I could have hoped for.
Project Mystika exists to tell the stories that animals cannot tell themselves.
To remind us that compassion is never weakness.
That every life has value.
And that silence only protects those who profit from suffering.
I saw you. You mattered. And your story deserves to be heard.
