Bands that changed my world
Every musical journey begins with a single spark.
For me, that spark came in the form of a band called Europe. They were my introduction to rock music and the reason I attended my very first concert. What started as curiosity soon grew into a lifelong passion, opening the door to a world filled with powerful melodies, unforgettable riffs, and endless musical discovery.
As the years passed, I found myself drawn to the giants of rock and metal. Bands such as Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Guns N' Roses, Ozzy Osbourne, Helloween, Gamma Ray, and Sepultura helped build the foundation of my musical taste. Their music introduced me to everything from soaring melodies and epic storytelling to technical musicianship and raw energy.
Like many music fans, my journey didn't follow a straight line. Curiosity led me toward heavier sounds, exploring the intensity of bands such as Obituary and Morbid Angel. Yet at the same time, I never lost my appreciation for the catchy hooks, memorable choruses, and larger-than-life attitude of bands like Ratt, Poison, Cinderella, Mötley Crüe, and Lita Ford.
Over time, my focus gradually shifted. I became increasingly fascinated by atmosphere, emotion, and the ability of music to tell a story. Artists such as Within Temptation, The Gathering, and Type O Negative revealed a different side of heavy music—one where beauty and darkness, vulnerability and strength, could exist side by side.
Eventually, these influences led me to the artists that inspire me most today. Bands such as Sonata Arctica, Nightwish, Amorphis, Ayreon, Ghost, Amaranthe, Five Finger Death Punch, Children of Bodom, and Arch Enemy continue to shape the music I listen to and the music I create.
Of course, this list is far from complete. Over the years, countless artists, albums, and songs have crossed my path, each contributing in their own way to my love of music.
